As Deadpool 2 smashes the international box office, we ask - is it REALLY that good?
Deadpool 2 is proving to be a huge force worldwide, amassing $41.6 million in 79 markets this weekend, including $3.6 million in the U.K., $3.2 million in Brazil, $3 million in Germany, and $2.8 million in Australia. In total, the second instalment has amassed a massive $344 million overseas and $255 million in North America.
We all know number 2's can be, well... number 2's, but is Ryan Reynolds' latest superhero outing as good as we're made to believe?
Yes, it flippin' well is.
From the second the film begins to the moment it ends, there's genuinely no let up. Deadpool 2 is Deadpool 1 on acid - funnier, sassier, sexier than the first one by a mile, and let's not forget how good the original actually was.
Deadpool meets Russell, an angry teenage mutant who lives at an orphanage. When Russell becomes the target of Cable -- a genetically enhanced soldier from the future -- Deadpool realizes that he'll need some help saving the boy from such a superior enemy. He soon joins forces with Bedlam, Shatterstar, Domino and other powerful mutants to protect young Russell from Cable and his advanced weaponry.
All of the best elements from the first outing are here, and the winning formula sees the piss-taking superhero deliver lols after lols with more room to play. Wade may be on a major downer, but this time his motley crew are far more entertaining than the original lot and the plot is brilliantly executed giving Reynolds every opportunity to shine.
