Journey’s End hits UK cinemas on 2nd February 2018. The film stars Asa Butterfield, Sam Claflin, Paul Bettany, Tom Sturridge, Toby Jones and Stephen Graham. Here’s a look at their career and upcoming roles in the anticipated upcoming film adaptation.
Stephen Graham – Trotter
Stephen Graham’s career spans many of the nation’s much-loved TV programs and award-winning films including Coronation Street (1999), the critically acclaimed Gangs of New York (2002), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), as well as the most recent instalment of its series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017).
Asa Butterfield – Raleigh
Asa Butterfield’s career spans more than a decade across TV and film. At just 20 years of age, he has starred in the television drama After Thomas (2006) and the comedy film Son of Rambow (2007). Most people might recognise him for his role as Bruno in the Holocaust film The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008), which bagged him a nomination for Young British Performer of the Year at the British Independent Film Awards and the London Film Critics Circle Award. He also played the title role in Ender’s Game (2013), and played the young Mordred in the hit BBC TV Series Merlin (2008–2009).
Sam Claflin – Captain Stanhope
Sam Claflin is best known for his starring roles in romantic tearjerker Me Before You (2016), comedy Love, Rosie (2014), and mystery thriller My Cousin Rachel (2017). He’s also recognisable from his recurring role as resistance fighter Finnick in the Hunger Games series (2013-2015). He was named Man Of The Year at the 2014 Glamour Awards, and has also received awards nominations from the likes of the Teen Choice Awards, the MTV Movie Awards, and the Empire Awards.
Paul Bettany – Osborne
Most people will recognise Paul Bettany for his roles in Wimbledon (2004), Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) and The Da Vinci Code (2006), as well as, his most recent role as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Working alongside the likes of Tom Hanks, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sir Ian McKellan, his career continues to go from strength to strength. He has previously been awarded the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Actor, Glamour Award for Man of the Year and has received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Tom Sturridge – Hibbert
Tom Sturridge is best known for his work in Being Julia (2004), Like Minds (2006) and The Boat That Rocked (2009). He was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for his performance in the Broadway play Orphans in 2013, and last year played Winston Smith in the controversial Broadway adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984.
Toby Jones – Mason
Toby Jones’ remarkable show reel includes prominent roles in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), The Hunger Games (2012), Dad’s Army (2016). He also provided the voice of Dobby in the Harry Potter series (2002-2010). He won both a British Independent Film Award and a London Critics Circle Film Award for his performance in Berberian Sound Studio (2012), and has also received nominations from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Golden Globes, and the BAFTAs.
