Top Gear wins decent viewing figures as iconic car show returns with new series.
Last night's Top Gear got off to a strong start, with 2.5 million tuning in for the first episode of the latest series.
The show held well against BBC One's Call The Midwife, which was again the most watched show of the night with over 7 million watching. Elsewhere, itv's Endeavour had over 4 million.
BBC bosses should be pleased with Top Gear's performance though, with the episode well up on last year's series finale which attracted 1.89 million. Previously it has been revealed that the car show, hosted by Matt Le Blanc is watched by millions via the iPlayer service, with many men losing out in the battle of the remote to their other halves on a Sunday evening.
