4 Ways to Make the Most of Your Day Off
In this busy, career-orientated world there are few things more precious than a day off work. Alas, although everyone in full-time employment throughout the UK is entitled to 28 days off with pay, according to The Telegraph almost a third of us do not take our holidays.
With increasingly heavy workloads and busy schedules, you are not only entitled to a day off but you deserve it. So, we thought we’d share 4 ways you can make the most of your next day off to ensure you are fully rested and recovered when you return to work. As the old adage goes: work hard, play hard.
Play Online Games
Speaking of playing hard, you don’t need a fancy console or mountains of games to have a great day gaming. All you need is a desktop, a tablet or even your mobile phone and a connection to the Internet. Once you’re online you’ll have access to thousands of different gaming sites so all you have to do is find one that suits you. For instance, if you enjoy playing online slots you can log into Betway.be and choose from over 160 slots including Game of Thrones and Immortal Romance. Alternatively, if you prefer role-playing games (RPGs) then titles such as Kultan and Tiny Adventures are just a click away.
Catch Up on TV
The holiday season might as well be renamed TV season, as all of our favourite shows will soon be returning and new favourites are about to be released. Unless you have some sort of incredible television scheduling skills, chances are you’re not caught up on everything yet. Now is your chance to watch those last couple of episodes of The Walking Dead before you start the new series, or to finally watch that show Westworld everyone at work keeps talking about. Plus, there are thousands of shows on streaming sites that you haven’t gotten around to watching yet, but now you can change all that and be the most television-savvy person in your office.
Have a Spa Day
Days off work are meant to be about recuperation and relaxation, so it is the perfect time to indulge in a spa day. After all, few things in this world feel better than a hot bubble bath, and yes we’re talking to the guys as well here. If you’ve got the time to plan ahead, there are plenty of spas across Britain that will make you feel refreshed. That said, don’t worry if you’ve left things until last minute as you can always make your own spa treatments at home using recipes shared in the video above by Rachel Talbott.
Last but certainly not least, a day at home is nothing without snacks so you may want to consider making some of your own. Not only does baking provide you with some delicious comfort food to enjoy, but multiple sources are now also suggesting that baking has therapeutic qualities. This is because baking is a meditative activity with repetitive, easy movements that are said to create an air of calmness. Baking also stimulates many of the senses all at the same time, leading to the release of endorphins that are sure to make you feel relaxed and happy.
So, whether you’re planning to game your day away or bake yourself into a state of bliss, remember that your day off belongs entirely to you. There are no deadlines, no responsibilities and absolutely no bosses to tell you what to do. Just have fun and you’ll feel more inspired than ever.
