If you're one of the lucky folk heading to Festival No.6 next week, you'll know there are a ridiculous amount of good things going on that you cannot afford to miss. Here, we've collated 6 unmissable things about the 2015 festival...
1. The Amazing Carnival No.6.
SWICA Carnival are Wales' leading carnival arts experts – feathered flamboyance and sequined splendour on the move! Expect extravagantly costumed drum and dance performances from their Carnival Crew including carnival-inspired performances from across the globe. They will be parading in their Brazilian Maracatu finery on the Carnival No. 6 Parade. SWICA Carnival will be returning to animate the Carnival No. 6 Parade with a selection of carnival costumes specially designed for their 25th anniversary Cardiff Carnival. Expect sequined samba headdresses, flamboyant feathery backpacks and glittering gowns - plus a carnival tribute to Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood. Festival goers who want to take part can sign up in advance for a costume, and join the party. 2. Michelen Star Long Table Banquets
Forget what you know about festival catering! FN6 Long Table Banquets have become the essence of our Food & Drink line-up and we are delighted to reveal our plans for Dinner At Clough’s for this years Festival No.6. Situated along the amazing picturesque White Horse Promenade overlooking the the River Dwyryd estuary, this year’s waterside feast will be created by the youngest chef to receive a Michelin Star, Aiden Byrne of Manchester House Restaurant and Lounge, former head-chef at St. John Bread and Wine James Lowe of Lyle’s and award winning Manchester chef Mary-Ellen McTague of Aumbry.
3. VOLVO Swedish Spa
Volvo Cars, will be taking over the Castell Gardens at Festival Number 6 2015, with a bespoke Swedish Spa available for the very first time for guests at Portmeirion.
Embodying the classic production and innovation of Swedish design that exists throughout everything Volvo Cars does, The Swedish Spa will feature an array of soothing baths, available for those who may need an hour or two away from the hustle and bustle of the festival.
Specially made Wood Fire Hot Tubs will enable guests to slip in and relax in sumptuous style against the backdrop of one of Portmeirion’s most stunning areas, The Castell Gardens. You will be able to book your own private tub for you and your party, with changing rooms provided as well as access to an accompanying seating area complete with log fires to chill out post-spa. The Volvo Cars Swedish Spa looks set to become the perfect place to unwind and get away from it all whilst at Number 6 this September…
Take a dip in the River Dwyrdd Estuary when the sun in shining or cool … in the Portmeirion pool whilst listening to the Estuary Stage.
5. Village Limits
Deep in the woods, The Village Limits in association with Virgin Trains is an amazing floating dance floor hidden away in the middle of the stunning Chinese Lake… Underground and legendary DJs perform from day into night…
6. Stealing Sheep torchlight parade
Another new parade for this year, the wonderful Stealing Sheep will be hosting their own magical ‘Mythopoeia’ Torchlight parade. The band are promise a spectacular procession, full of weird and wonderful costumes, including an illuminated Chinese dragon and accompanying music. All festival goers are welcome to join the parades.
