The Version Interview... Simon Rimmer on Strictly Come Dancing!
Simon Rimmer is swapping the kitchen for the dancefloor as he competes in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
Why are you taking part in Strictly this year?
I’ve always been a massive fan every year and every guest that comes on our show has just become obsessed with it from Matt Dawson right back to Aled Jones, then through to James Martin etc. Everyone that comes on absolutely loves it and I have always been very jealous, and when I got asked if I wanted to take part this year, it was the easiest answer. I want to be part of the club.
What are you most looking forward to on Strictly?
I like learning. The whole thing ’you can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ but I’m 54 and I have no dance experience whatsoever and genuinely, my learning curve is going to be so steep. I am looking forward to that bit, the mental and physical challenge of it. I think it will just be brilliant.
Have you any previous dance experience?
I have none, absolutely none! I would say on the scale of 1-10, my dance level will be 0 but if I can get to 7 then I will be very very happy, but I am pig headed and determined and I do pick up things really quickly.
What will be your biggest challenge during Strictly?
I think I am more suited to ballroom than to Latin. When I watch all the contestants who are good at Latin, they tend to be very mobile and very supple, and I am quite mobile but I am not very supple. I think you need to be kind of snake hips and that kind of vibe and I have neither of those things.
