A brand new series, The Art Show, launches on Sky Arts this month, setting out to bring art to a wider audience.
The new eight-part series explores passions, personalities and creativity in the arts around the world. Art expert and Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year judge Kate Bryan, broadcaster June Sarpong and presenter Will Best are joined by curator Carrie Scott, artist Charming Baker and historian Dr James Fox in this new globetrotting series that explores the biggest talking points and most eye-opening stories in the art world.
In the first episode which airs on Tuesday 13 June, Kate and Will take a look at some exquisite ancient treasures and cutting-edge new Chinese art in Beijing, while Charming visits Emily Young, the woman who’s been called Britain’s greatest living stone sculptor, at her studio in Tuscany. Also, Carrie travels to Detroit to meet the artists who are setting up studios in old derelict buildings and June meets Ben Vickers, the digital curator of London’s Serpentine Gallery.
